Bhopal Museum

State Archaeological Museum

  • Location : Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Timings : It’s open daily except Monday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

This museum is situated near the Lower Lake and consists of a small collection of 6th and 10th century Hindu sculpture, bronzes, prehistoric exhibits and copies of paintings from the Bagh Caves.

Central Museum

  • Location : Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Timings : It’s open daily except Monday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm

The Central Museum was established in 1949. On view are paintings, coins, porcelain objects, metal and ivory toys and artefacts, woodcarvings and a number of miscellaneous items like needle-work and local handicrafts.

Birla Museum

  • Location : Bangalore, Karnataka
  • Timings : It’s open daily except Monday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

This museum is excellent containing collection of sculpture dating mainly from the Paramana period. The stone sculptures are mainly of Vishnu, Shiva and their respective consorts and incarnations.

Bharat Bhavan

  • Location : Madhya Pradesh
  • Timings : It’s open daily except Monday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

In February 1982, a unique cultural complex called Bharat Bhavan. Built and designed by the well known architect Charles Correa the complex is set in a number of low buildings set around the banks of the lake. Here in one compound are the Rang Mandal, the theatre repertory; anhad, the hall for classical music; Vagarth, the poetry library; Bahirrang, the open-air auditorium; and Roopankar, the museum of art.
